To create a mentally healthy workplace it is vital to build supportive relationships between managers and team members.
Delivered by an accredited workplace mental health trainer, this course promotes a healthy performance culture and empowers managers to put wellbeing at the heart of their leadership approach. It provides the skills and confidence to have conversations about mental health and encourage people to seek support.
Managers that can support the mental health of their teams will encourage employees to thrive, increasing talent retention, and reducing the impact of presenteeism and long-term sickness absence.
The course has been developed by MHFA England®, the workplace mental health experts. Research shows their courses make a lasting impact in people’s knowledge and confidence around mental health.

Managers will learn to:
Identify if an employee may be experiencing mental health issues
Feel confident having open conversations about mental health with their team members
Appropriately signpost to available support and know where to go for support and guidance for themselves
Role model good self-care practice, inspiring their teams to look after their own mental health and wellbeing
Course structure & content:
The course is delivered by an MHFA England instructor member who is accredited by the Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH), ensuring a quality assured and consistent training experience. Participants will engage in an immersive live training session that enables learners to actively practice and reinforce their skills through engaging in group activities and discussions, facilitating the sharing of best practices. Topics covered include:
Mental health spectrum: The importance of knowing your team, knowing yourself, and early warning signs
Stress and workplace stressors: The Stress Container and barriers to mental health conversations
Preparing for mental health conversations: Preparing for virtual conversations and managing remotely
Mental health conversation cycle: Effective questions, active listening, empathetic responses, supporting and signposting
Wellbeing and stress in the workplace: Using the Stress Container for yourself
Commitments to change: What to do next to embed learning
